In Search of Bill Clinton: A Psychological Biography, William Jefferson Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States is undoubtedly the greatest American enigma of our age — a dark horse that captured the White House, fell from grace and was resurrected as an elder statesman whose popularity rises and falls based on the day’s sound bytes. John Gartner’s In Search of Bill Clinton unravels the mystery at the heart of Clinton’s complex nature and why so many people fall under his spell.

Sarah: How a Hockey Mom Turned the Political Establishment Upside Down (Paperback)

Sarah: How a Hockey Mom Turned the Political Establishment Upside Down, This is more of an introduction to Sarah Palin than a true biography. It more or less gives us a clear picture of her, a sketch. I would not call it unbiased, however.
This slim book is a fascinating read. One can tell the author is pro-Palin. That takes nothing away from the material, however. We discover that Palin is a very ordinary person who has managed to do extraordinary things. And this alone makes for a fascinating and compelling story. It is inspirational to say the least. Regardless of where you stand politically.

Mrs. Astor Regrets: The Hidden Betrayals of a Family Beyond Reproach (Hardcover)
By Meryl Gordon
Buy new: $28.00 $18.48
A riveting look behind the gates of the house of Astor as a famous family falls apart in public. The fate of Brooke Astor, the endearing philanthropist with the storied name, has generated worldwide headlines since her grandson Philip sued his father in 2006, alleging mistreatment of Brooke. And shortly after her death in 2007, Anthony Marshall, Mrs. Astor’s only child, was indicted on charges of looting her estate. Rarely has there
been a story with such an appealing heroine, conjuring up a world so nearly forgotten: a realm of lavish wealth and secrets of the sort that have engaged Americans from the era of Edith Wharton to the morerecent days of Truman Capote and Vanity Fair.

By Charles L. Dufour

Gentle Tiger: The Gallant Life of Roberdeau Wheat, Roberdeau Wheat first attracted my interest when I read that he had led the Louisiana Tigers, from whom my alma mater, LSU, gets its mascot name. It was a pleasant surprise then to find this book through a search on Amazon.
From an early age Wheat was interested in reading about the great military leaders and battles of the past, to the detriment of his school studies. He first volunteered for the war with Mexico. Once having experienced the soldier’s life, he eschewed what would probably have been a lucrative law career.

Sorcery at Caesars: Sugar Ray’s Marvelous Fight - On the night of April 6, 1987, Sugar Ray Leonard stole a fight. A couple of million witnesses saw him get away with it. Leonard s theft was so slick that the victim, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, didn’t know until it was too late. His middleweight title was picked clean and gone, forever…. In its own way, it was a perfect Sting. Of course, Hagler did not see it that way. But if winners write history, a salesman, a con, a Sweet Scientist, and a sorcerer wrote this one. Leonard was each and all in the parking lot behind Caesars. This is the story of sorcery at Caesars, and how Sugar Ray put the Fight Game on Marvelous Marvin.
